I have two issues, they may be related though I can’t tell for certain. I’ve done some searching and tried different fixes but these issues are persisting.
I get an avast! fatal setup error when my Avast boots up: “Error reading product data from “C:\Program Files\part-setup_ais-ffffffff.vpx”. Setup can not continue”.
I’ve had this issue for a couple of months now. I’ve tried the following:
Updating Avast (up-to-date, no issues with updating)
Uninstalling Avast via the uninstall utility in safe mode, cleaning the registry with CCleaner and then re-installing with the latest version. I receive 5 error popups similar to and including the above one but the installation finishes fine - the popup above reappears when loading up Avast.
Checked C:\ and C:\Program Files\ for any “part-setup_ais-ffffffff.vpx” or “Program” files, but none are there (I have hidden and system protected files showing).
Searching hasn’t given me much to try besides the above. Has anybody else had this issue?
Secondly, my other issue is that after a while my computer will have multiple AVAST * 32 processes running in the task manager, sitting around the 2,500kb area per process. After a day of use I’ve had roughly 150 of these processes. I do not know if it’s triggered by something I do or if it just builds up over time. Unfortunately searching for this issue hasn’t helped me yet.
Any advice on the above issues would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: system info.
Avast program version: 2015.10.0.2208 / Virus Def. version: 141201-0
Windows 7 Home Premium / Service Pack 1
Only ever had Avast installed on this system.

Do you want me to run MalwareBytes and follow the link you gave? I only ask as it says this in the post: “• Please DO NOT run any other tools or scans whilst you are being helped.”
Run farbar and attach the logs it creates to a post in the viruses and worms forum.
I’m not saying that your system is infected (although it can be ofcourse),
but let’s see if we can find something that shouldn’t be there.
The least it will do is ruling out some possible causes of the problem.
Here are the logs (I’ll post them to the viruses and worms forum too); I won’t run Malware Bytes yet until you recommend doing so.
As a side note, I’ve now got about 130 AVAST * 32 processes running, whereas it was 8 when I posted the thread. I have not restarted my computer since posting.
