avast firewall asks periodically for livecomm.exe

hello there
my avast firewall periodically asks me for allow or block livecomm.exe on my windows 8 although I have set it in allow and “remember my answer” is checked.
it just not ask one but ask too in many windows.
thanks for help & sorry for my english

I think it is associated with a different program each time.

Check This:
http://processchecker.com/file/LiveComm.exe.html

Are you using Windows 8 and accessing your live Mail from a Modern Desktop App ???
Here is additional information for you to consider:

“LiveComm is the Microsoft live bundle which is installed in Windows 8 by default. SkyDrive is part of Live.
The apps Contacts, Calendar and Mail are part of Live and are default tiles on Metro.
If Metro apps are the primary source of Mail, Calendar, Contacts, etc. then do not uninstall them. My directions are meant for desktop or laptop Windows 8 users who have another method of retrieving e-mail, calendar, etc.
If you uninstall Windows Live, SkyDrive will still work fine. Although SkyDrive is part of the bundle, it does not uninstall along with Mail, Calendar, Messaging, etc.”

thanks johnny4745 for answer but it’s not a file extension I don’t know what you mean of “it is associated with a different program each time.”

thanks bob3160, I use start mail app which was built in windows 8 not desktop version

it is so bothering, I have even set mail app settings to “sync manual” to prevent app from constantly online but still too many ask windows is showing by avast!

In Firewall Setting do you have Ask or Auto Decide checked?

See Attachment below:

surely I have set it to “ask” because I want to manage each processes communicating to internet, but it doesn’t mean I need to tell avast to set an action for a process more than one time as I checked “remember my answer”

I have mine set to Ask also.

I don’t have Windows 8, I have Windows 7, and Microsoft has 21 connections to my computer.

I don’t know much about Windows 8, but from what I have read. livecomm.exe is Windows live, and you could have as many as 80 connections from Microsoft in Network Connections in the Firewall.

I believe livecomm.exe asks for each of these connections, so you will probably get these popup messages until Microsoft has established all connections.

I could be wrong.

thanks if there is realy 80 connections be sure you are right but the application rules in avast menu doesn’t show connections just show application names and three rules:
internet out
internet in
default rule

Have you looked at Application Rules in the Firewall to see how many connections there are for Microsoft?

application rules doesn’t show all connections it just show company name of connections and when I expand microsoft corporation there are names of microsoft services, communication service is the name of livecomm.exe but expanding it just show packet rules, in packet rules there are three option internet out/in/ and default rule, first two option are set as action “Allow” but the “default rule” option stick in “Ask” action. I set it as Allow but the avast ask me again for allow or block livecomm.exe and when I check above settings, the “Default Rule” is set as “Ask” again!
it’s everything I know
thanks anyway
