hello
i’ve recently faced this annoying problem , i found that while avast firewall is enabled the ping is requested timed out but when it is disabled the ping works fine
Just to assure you you aren’t being ignored, it is more likely that those who have already viewed the topic don’t have this problem or don’t have any suggestion.
I don’t use the avast firewall, but there are different areas that you can set it to, Home, Work or Public (or wording like that). Depending on what you have set it up to use, that may well stop ping connections.
Which area have you set the avast firewall to ?
Try switching to a different one or Home and see if that allows ping.
I would try a repair of avast:
XP - Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and select Repair, click next and follow.
Vista, win7 - Control Panel, Programs & Features, uninstall a program, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Uninstall/Change and select Repair, click next and follow.
