Avast Firewall do not start!

Yesterday I received tens of firewall notification, and even if the “Remember my choice” falg were set, I’ve received notification also for the same program/task already processed (“Allow”/“Deny”). Since this morning, when I start windows (10) I get Avast notification about firewall not started, and if I try to start it manually (by pressing “Activate” button), I get “No firewall available” ! I’ve already restarted my system several times…

I’m sorry but still not working yet. Restarted the system 3 or 4 times everyday…

It seems an incompatibility issue between the Windows Defender Firewall and the Avast Firewall

can you please check what is your current AV version? An update that fixes this behavior was released on Monday and your AV should be already updated to version 20.2.2401 (build 20.2.5130.571). You can see this information under the About menu.

I have the edition 20.2.5130.571 installed and also when I reboot the PC the firewall fails to load and also the windows service core messaging uses 99% of the SSD hard drive. When I use repair the application(from settings) it finally loads.

Besides the core messaging, this task- svchost(from the task manager) has also the windows defender firewall .

The version shown is 20.2.2401 (build 20.2.5130.571) (Avast Premium Security) and if I try to force the update manually I get “Already updated” message.

Any solution ? Still have the firewall not active issue.

Try updating twice. I’ve had it come up as Already updated and the second try to update actually updated the program.

The software version is the last one: 20.2.2401(1st April 2020) and I STILL HAVING THE ISSUE AND NO SUPPORT FROM AVAST !
I’ve already turned OFF and ON my PC (every day!) and NOTHING CHANGES, every tim I get the same error : “Firewall is turned OFF” and when I press the “Turn On” button, I get “Firewall not available!” message. I thought that a paid version of an antivirus had more support than a free version, but I was wrong. I’m paying to get advertisement (“your pc is running slow…buy this software…”) no working software and no support. I’m really disappointed.

Turning off and on is not the same as doing a RESTART.

During these days I have tried: Shutdown, reboot (or restart), windows updates, disable/enable Avast, update Avast, but the error still there.

Update done, the beta first, and then the new release, unfortunately, same error.

Have you ever done a clean install?

Here we are! The clean install worked. Now the firewall is active. The only thing wrong is that I’ve lost all my settings, even if I did “Back up settings” before the procedure and “Restore settings” after the installation. I get no error messages but no settings restored.

It appears to be a bug.
