My internet is blocked unless I go into the Local Area Connection Properties and uncheck the avast!Firewall NDIS Filter Driver. Is this a bug in Avast? I am using the most updated program version 6.0.1367 and virus definitions 120129-0.
Which was your previous firewall? (before AIS).
It was the windows 7 firewall. I have had Avast on this pc for 6 months with no problem until recently.
Suggestion: re-enable the driver, reboot, repair avast (using “Add/Remove Programs”), reboot.
Is the rest of avast working correctly?
Please report back.
Also, you can try an installation from scratch:
- Download the latest version of avast! Uninstall Utility and save it.
- Download the latest avast! version and save it.
- Uninstall avast from Control Panel (if possible). If, for any reason, you can’t run it, try booting in Safe Mode and doing it from there. Anyway, boot after that.
- Run the avast! Uninstall Utility saved on 1 in Safe Mode. Boot after you’ve run it. Repeat this for any major avast! version you have ever installed/upgraded in your computer.
- Install avast! using the setup saved on 2. Boot.
- Register your free copy or add the license key for Pro. Or even upgrade your key from old versions.
- Check and post the results. If, for any reason, you did not solve, try doing the step 3 in Safe Mode anyway.
Hey Guys, thanks for your suggestions, I tried the repair and that didn’t work. Before I did the re-install I checked the firewall and I found somehow the Network Location setting was turned off. I don’t remember doing that, unless I clicked yes on some popup message. Anyhow now all is fine. Thanks for all your help!
