Having problems seeing homegroup computers on the new avast, firewall seems to be blocking the Ipv 6 address, it is allowing the ip of the networked computer tho, just not the homegroup, it is also set to private in the firewall, I have tried public with no difference, Why would it not be allowing by default. I have been messing with this for a while and can’t seem to get it, I am very inclined with computers and software but this is just annoying and time consuming.
Paid Avast IS on Win 7 64 bit Ultimate
Not exactly the same problem, but similar.
I am logging a service error at every start up, for the Home Group Listener service (currently set to Manual start). It is a 7024 Windows error, Description:
The HomeGroup Listener service terminated with service-specific error %%-2147023143.
The HGL service is therefore not running. If I go to start it manually, it will not do so.
HOWEVER, my Windows Firewall service is set to Manual (i.e. it doesn’t start) as I leave the firewall protection to Avast. If I then start my Windows Firewall service, I can then also start the Home Group Listener service. I don’t really want to have two firewalls (Win and Avast) running at the same time, as I understand this can cause problems.
I would welcome any info on settings in either Windows or Avast which would prevent the HGL error occurring.
