In protection > Firewall > settings > from smart mode to ASK options doesn’t save and always reverts to smart mode, why? It didn’t do this before some updates on the program. Anyone can help?
Eg/ Under the bit it says How should firewall treat new apps. That bit I change to ASK and it keeps resetting to Smart mode, it needs a save option button to save it, because it’s not saving it when changing.
Ive never changed that before so just tried it. as you said there is no save button but when i closed and reopened it had stayed on Ask so no idea why yours is not.

First, I’m an Avast user and not an Avast Team member.
I have my Firewall, How should firewall treat new apps set to Smart Mode and that hasn’t reverted to Ask.
Now the other issue is that the Firewall and Network Inspector work in conjunction. I have my local network set to Trusted.
I think the question was for the other way round.
it is set as default to smart but they want it set to ask but it doesnt save for them but it did for me.
It has stuck for me also, as I mentioned.
I went online and asked other people on other sites, they all said AVAST is crap and no tech support unless you pay is a joke, goes to show just how crap the free product is. I think I’m going to switch to another free app like comodo or something at least then I can get something that asks me what to do this is Avasts update fault for windows 7, they no longer support windows 7 maybe is my guess.
Maybe we should all just leave AVAST since they don’t support us, I used to pay for Avast and I stopped giving them money because of things like this. Simply put this is the solution. But if you guys so bent on fixing this you could try to remove firewall, reboot pc, then add it again, then reboot pc, then select ASK and whilst that is highlighted rebooted pc then and there, this may fix the issue.
