Avast! Firewall - Quick question.

The firewall with my Avast! seems to be blocking the system. “System”, Since the system is trying to let a connection in, it attempts 3 times at different intervals and changes port every 3 times, why is this?

Which system? ???
What is file path.
What is your OS? Which version of avast? Other security software?

The answers you need are.
1: I can screenshot it if you would like it, or I could simply tell you it,
2: Doesn’t say anything about a file path but now and again the windows media sharing(exe) or whatever tries aswell.
3: This was a dormant install of Windows 7, With service pack 1, no other security software was installed since I built the computer myself.

A screenshot would be good.

There you go, Attached it, before you ask, the screenshot is of what the Avast had the settings at, (Default)

Hi Ddm5,
can you go to firewall / expert settings / packet rules and lookup the “Windows networking IN” rule. What is its configuration there? can you post a screenshot. thanks.
Lukas.

Ahh, You may have found my problem.
Attached screenshot.

@ lukor thanks. Soon after my last post I shut down my pc. And did not log on until this AM. Thus I was unable do give anymore assistance. I had a feeling it was in the packet rules.

Well should I enable it then?

Yes!

You may be interested in a third party firewall. These have HIPS (Host Intusion Prevention Software).

Para, how do you remove private firewall?, it seems to be causing constant black screening and I don’t really need it.

Uninstall it via programs and features and reboot, then run the tool from here http://singularlabs.com/uninstallers/other-software/ 38a in the list to remove leftovers.

If you are unable to uninstall normally then try from safemode - tap F8 while booting the system, once removed reboot back into normal mode and run the tool.
