Avast Firewall Useless With Two Networks

I have Avast Premier on a PC with two network connections.

First network connection has only LAN through which I connect with Remote Desktop to the PC in question.
Second network connection is directly connected to the internet and has public IP address.

After I installed Avast Premier, it’s firewall detected only the second network connection and asks me whether it is Private or Public.

  • If I select public, the firewall gets enabled, but it blocks the first network connection which is only LAN as well and thus not allowing me to connect Remotely to the PC
  • If I select private, then the firewall is disabled and therefore useless

Even though the LAN IP range of the first connection is entered in Friends, it still doesn’t let me connect Remotely.

This is really annoying. It defeats the purpose of the firewall. Every other firewall solution I have used before detects both network connections and allows me to choose which is public and which private. Avast Premier is terrible.

Sound to me you really have messed up things.
How exactly is it you have things setup?
How many systems?
How are they connected? (router, modem, switch, x-over or…?)

Why would I mess things up exactly?

I don’t see why it isn’t clear what I have explained.

The PC that has Avast Premier installed on is connected directly to the internet getting a public IP address from an optic modem. There is another NIC through which is connected to my LAN (router with several PCs in the LAN and serving another internet connection through ADSL) This second NIC is configured so it doesn’t receive internet - the DNS is disabled. So it only connects to the LAN so I can access the PC remotely through LAN.
