Does anyone know if and when Avast will release software for android?
Yeah, there is one coming. They purchased some company’s security product (think it was Threat Aware or Threat Sense, something like that), and are giving that an overhaul. As to when it will be released, I have not seen anything yet.
Release is planned for the 4th quarter. 
To my best knowledge, Avast! took over the old Opera team ( yes, from de browser ) in Prague to develop Avast! for Android. And indeed recently they acquired mobile security app developer ITAgents, the makers of Theft Aware :

Well, I was some time on NOKIA with Symbian, but after 3 months I realized it can’t compare with Android OS. So, back on it with HTC smartphone and I am looking forward for news about avast on Android’s.
