Avast for Firefox...

Hello, I have a paid Avast Internet Security product. When I installed it, it also did something to Firefox, installed a kind of plug in that added security. So for example if I was on google and searched, Avast would tell me which websites in the results were safe and which were bad.

I had to reinstall Firefox because it became buggy and now it seems that Avast protection on Firefox is no longer there. Any idea how I can reintegrate it? Thank you!

What you are referring to is the “avast online security” add-on.
The AOS has proven itself to be more trouble than it’s worth.
Many users either disable it in their browsers via the “tools/extension”
menu or completely uninstall it. I don’t even have it installed.

To uninstall it…Control Panel>Uninstall a Program>double click “avast”>click “change”>untick “Browser Protection”>reboot.
Doing this will not lead to any decrease in protection. The three resident shields (web, file and mail) will keep you safe.

Okay, thanks man.

yeah I’ve noticed that Firefox seems to be running faster and more smoothly now than it was before.

Cheers!

No problem!

I, too, have noticed an increase in page load times in both Chrome and FF.
