Avast for Single Windows Account User

I have a friend who has an insane friend. They share a PC. The insane one doesn’t want to use an anti-virus program because he says that it slows things down (yes, I know).
Can Avast be configured so that it is only run for a single Windows account, and not the other?

what does he say when you have a fileinfector and only solution is format reinstall?

He forced his friend to do a clean install (jacka**)

When you install avast from an account with admin privileges, it should be for all user accounts. Limited user accounts can’t make changes to avast.

I wouldn’t share a PC with this friend unless he conformed with my rules for users.

I guess your friend bought this PC - if so there is even more of a case to say my system my rules if you don’t like it get your own PC.

I would also recommend that your friend ensure that the security challenged friend is only given access through a limited user account.

+1

They are a couple. She is more technologically knowledgeable than her boyfriend who doesn't want to use any common sense security program. So, he, did a clean install over her programs and files.

Not everyone can afford a PC of their own.

OK, just to answer your initial question: No, afaik.

She should get a droppbox account or similar … then atleast she have the files when that computer is toast

Thank you

You’re welcome.

Some couple, were he doesn’t respect her property, programs and happily clean install over her programs.

If she is more technically knowledgeable than him, that is where I would be putting him on a limited user account to stop him pulling stunts like this. Change the Admin password and your password and make it that whatever account is used they have to logon by password.

If he can’t afford a computer of his own, send him to the local library or internet cafe and see how he likes that, they won’t let him change anything.
