avast forcing me to use google chrome

after updating 7.0.1451 avast started to show a pop up message that says install google chrome when i start my computer. i will never use that rubbish browser.
is there a way disabling it?

It is a bug that is effecting some updates, it shouldn’t keep appearing on boot:

You will probably need to add this line also:

EDIT:
Having just noticed that you have avast 7.0.1451, the latest version of avast is 7.0.1451 (which resolved some issues), I would recommend that you first try a manual program update [avastUI, Maintenance, Update - Program Update.

That may mean that you don’t have to edit the avast5.ini file, so I would try that first.

It actually showed you a screen allowing you the option NOT to install Chrome by unchecking that option.
Apparently, you didn’t uncheck those two selections and hence, Chrome was installed on your system.
Many of us happen to like that browser but that’s a user choice.
If you don’t want Chrome, simply use the add/remove function and uninstall it and in the Avast! settings,
go to Troubleshooting and check the box that states: Do not use Chrome as Avast! default browser.

thanks for replies
@bob3160 i didn’t install chrome. i unchecked two selections.
the problem is when i start my computer avast shows a popup “complete your avast software update”. i uncheck these two selections about chrome and click finish button
but it keeps showing same message after starting computer.

You should now be using or updating to version 7.0.1456. It fixed some of the issues. :slight_smile:
