I was doing a search for Avast and excessive floppy accessing issues. I noticed a few hits on Google that referenced https://forum.avast.com. Is that legit? Firefox came up with a warning about a invalid certificate, I didn’t continue.
"You have asked Firefox to connect
securely to forum.avast.com, but we can’t confirm that your connection is secure.
Normally, when you try to connect securely,
sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are
going to the right place. However, this site’s identity can’t be verified.
What Should I Do?
If you usually connect to
this site without problems, this error could mean that someone is
trying to impersonate the site, and you shouldn’t continue."
I noticed on a machine some floppy access for no reason, I thought maybe Avast was doing it. I put in “avast floppy being accessed” into Google to see if people had issues with this, they do. Anyway, the second and third results in Google were hits from https://avast.forum.com. Why would that show up in Google? Is it a mistake on Google’s part or is it another site trying to impersonate the Avast forum?
No, there’s no problem. Avast software just hasn’t paid for a third-party certificate for their https connections. It showed up on google because you searched for those terms, and google found that page. No biggie.
Please go to PROFILE on the top of the main forum page > Modify Profile > Forum Profile Information > Signature. Enter information about your system like the Operating System (OS), RAM, browser, security software, what version of Avast and firewall you use, and any add-on’s or other items you wish to mention. See my and other signatures here in this post as examples. The purpose of this is so that we can offer pertinent advice.
In addition, if you feel that your issue is now resolved/fixed, please go back to the open post in this topic, click the modify button in that Post and change the title/subject, add [Resolved] to the beginning of the title so this thread can be closed. Thank you.

Yeah, I don’t think anybody does that, but it’d be nice if they did!
