yeah…sort of an overkill security reaction from Firefox…you normally don’t get this about certificates, just a small warning pop up. Funny as I was already browsing the forums in a same Firefox session. The alert on the screen shot happened as I launched a link to an updated thread from Thunderbird, this one:
https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=49561.new;topicseen#new
sounds it’s because the links come wrongly with https
and inside the forum interface too, in new replies I mean.
So that came from an email about and updated thread??
None of my update emails have https…infact, I haven’t been to a https forum page as far as I know…
yeah but I got the issue not only found in mail notifications but as well in my forum new replies, inside the browser, same message link is HTTPS there…
sounds the issue is already gone, getting http links in notifications now…sounds just one thread was affected.
Weird…
it’s something that went wrong in the forums interface… ??? I clicked on the “I understand the risks” button from the Firefox alert and could actually get to the avast forum page in https…
This said Comodo forums (using smf as well) give the opportunity to login and browse in ssl constantly if wanted.
Yeah, it does work, just that the certificate isn’t verified (I think that’s how it should be read)
as said, other smf forums allow https browsing (not just login), but it’s clearly specified on the main forum page. Should be on Avast forums too…

How do I get the latest and correct Avast certificate using the https: for firefox. ;D
No idea…the pic is about the certificate properties viewed through IE8 (after a warning similar to Firefox)
I think it is more verification than the certificate, but where is it verified? I don’t know…
you get lots of warnings like that in Firefox with clean sites most of the time, just you never get such an alert, only a small exclamation point on the status bar padlock, and the details about the certificate when you click on it.
edit: it’s verified with the companies issuing the certificates, and what’s being issued, if it appears valid, revoked etc…
