I suddenly keep getting a “Last encountered error: The package is broken” message consistently every time I try to update. Internet service is fine (I’m posting here :)). Maybe there’s something I can delete to make this symptom go away? I’ll try rebooting again.
No help from rebooting. I tried “Update” from the downloaded installation file, and it seemed to go through the update, but after exiting the update process the UI kept saying I needed to update. I tried to update and the update process would say it was up-to-date, but exiring the update module the UI would still say I needed to update ???.
Finally I uninstalled and re-installed, re-registered and updated my exceptions. Now everything seems to be normal again.
My original update to 1027 was thriugh the UI.
You should have tried an avast repair first:
Repair of avast. Control Panel, Programs & Features, uninstall a program, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow. You may need to reboot after the repair. This has in the past resolved this out of sync issue between reported and actual VPS version.
ARRGH! I missed the scrollbar and only saw Change, Uninstall & Update! I thought it was strange Repair wasn’t there! I need some sleep, methinks!
