Avast Free 18.6.2349 blocks all IPv4 connectivity

Ahh what a day…

I went to a cafe to do some work. Wifi was all good and then suddenly there was no internet access despite my phone having absolutely no problem. Upon more digging I realised that IPv6 websites worked fine (google.com) but I could not find a fix.

I thought it would perhaps be solved once I get home to my usual network but the problem persisted. I used a lot of ipconfig commands found on the internet and those didn’t help. Then I disabled all the shields in Avast and suddenly it worked. Everything came down to the WebShield. The moment I enable it the whole traffic is blocked - but I never even tinkered with its settings. Has anybody experienced it?

Do you have a phone or a pc?

PC, Acer Swift 5 Laptop, Windows 10 Personal

I had the same issue as the OP. I did the repair (recommended on the other linked thread) and it seems to have resolved the issue on my laptop. My wife’s was having the same issue, so I will try it there too.

Great.

The repair hasn’t helped in my case. When I enable WebShield it cuts off all ipv4 traffic like before

Possible a clean install would fix your issues, especially if previous version was updated directly via the online internet installer.
