Avast free 2015.10.2.2218 cant connect to the internet

My Avast free 2015.10.2.2218 installed on Windows XP SP2 hasn’t connected to the internet since its installation.
So no virus def. updates, nor can I sign in or register. I cant figure out the problem, I’ve set it to direct connection (no proxy).
I can access the internet via internet explorer, firefox without any problem.

Whenever I open avast and try to update or sign in/register I get the infinite loading icon…any help please ?

First, if this is a 32bit XP, update to SP3…!!

No real firewall (widows firewall)

That won’t be it then as XPs firewall has no outbound protection.

Any previous antivirus on this system ?
