Avast free 5 and IDM

Hello guys. Fist, thanks for this great antivirus. I’m using IDM (Internet Download Manager) as download manager, but i have a problem with Avast and IDM. When i download a file, Avast doesn’t scan it. With Avira i have no problem, works well, but with Avast is different. IDM has a command line antivirus, where i put ashquick.exe, but not works. I’ve done my tests in Eicar web… Any suggestion?
Thanks

Are you downloading via http or ftp? Avast! doesn’t see ftp downloads. For http downloads you should be able to see it listed in WebShield at the end of the download. In any case it is scanned again if you open it to store it or execute it.

If you are simply putting in ashQuick.exe it won’t work as you have to put the full path in for it to work. If you are putting in the full path, please copy and paste what you are putting in.

Thanks for your support. I’m using W7 64 bits and Comodo Firewall 64 bits. If i bypass IDM pressing Alt key, Avast detect all http downloads in Eicar test, not ftp how you have said before. I put in IDM C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast5\ashQuick.exe in window antivirus option, with no parameters (i’ve tried %file% %1, but nothing works).

Thanks again

Best regards

What avast version are you using, 5.1.889 is the latest regular release ?
If so then that path is correct.

I don’t know if IDM (I don’t use it) requires any parameter as avast in itself doesn’t need any.

I wonder if IDM uses a proxy to do its downloads or uses a protocol other than http ?
Which as sded mentions would mean avast couldn’t scan its content, but that shouldn’t make any difference in the ashQuick scan (yes to the web shield) as that happens after the download is complete.

Finally i’ve got a solution! I sent an email to IDM, and automatically they say me the parameter.

Antivirus: C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast5\ashQuick.exe
Parameters: [File] /action:delete

It works like a charm!

Thanks for your support

You’re welcome, always good to ask the source.
