Since I installed the free 7.0 version of Avast on my new computer last week, my internet browsing speed has slowed down. I use Chrome as my browser, and it takes about 2 seconds longer to connect to a page and fully finish downloading the page. Not a huge problem, but since I jusr purchased my Mac, I would like it at optimal speed. Any help?
Hello???
Close your browser, open avast, go in WebRep, uninstall the application for your browsers and then you can return on the internet with a good speed. (sorry for my english I’m french.)
I have exactly the same problem. I am using Chrome on a Mac running Lion.
When I go to Web Rep, it tells me that the extension for Chrome is not installed.
Hi,
Can you post here your Chrome version and the avast! version, please?

I had the exact same problem. I disabled the File System Shield and it went back to normal speeds.
I’ve already working on optimizations in the File System Shield to make (not only) browsing much faster. We’ll release it as soon as possible.

I’m glad this has been reported, because my PC has slowed overall since this last major release. It sounds like my disk is constantly busy and the system will stop responding for seconds at a time. When I check resources, Avast! keeps coming up near the top as active. If this does not improve, I may have to uninstall. I hope y’all can figure it out soon.
