avast free! 7 will not install > ashBase.dll could not be loaded

hello community,

i have here a windows-xp-home-system, where i am not able to install avast! free. the installer runs and then ends up in deinstallation.

the error log sys that the ashBase.dll could not be loaded.

i read a few threads about this problem, but they didn’t solve my problem.

i tried to uninstall in safe mode with aswclear, then made a new installation and tried the workaround with the “vcredist_x86_sp1” someone suggested > no chance.

now i tried to install a virus-protection from one of the competitors … and that ended also in this error :frowning:

so ist there anyone with an idea for me to get that working ?

thanks in advance. greetings marco.

unintall avast using aswclear again…

then what is your orginal antivirus sofware??

use the removal tool of your orginal antivirus given here: http://singularlabs.com/uninstallers/security-software/

then try re-installing avast!

hello again,

i looked again and found that there were several instances of microsoft c++ redistributable from 2005 to 2010 installed.

i deinstalled them all, made a registry clean and restarted the system. after that that installation worked.

greetings marco.
