I’ve just installed my Windows 7 pro 64bits machine for the third time in a row, i ran in a lot of weird installation troubles. And i finally found that avast free 8 blocks some installs without any warning. Installs of VMWare workstation 8, .net 4 en 4.5, office 2010 and a whole load of windows updates. The symptoms are that the install or update stalls, and can’t be canceled, it just sits in a frozen state. I tried disabling avast for an hour (and permanently), but that didn’t help. Finally i deinstalled avast and all installs and updates worked fine. There were no messages in event viewer that implied any errors… i installed avast again after this, now just the shields, no other modules except the software update checker. Today i had some windows updates updates that again stalled when shutting down my system… i removed avast and they installed without any problems. I found (Google) that VMware workstation had a problem with avast… but nothing found about the other problems… Does anyone have an idea whats wrong, i hate to go look for another AV, cause i like avast (still, after these problems
