Avast! Free ~ Actions?

I just wonder if it would be worth trying an avast Repair or a clean reinstall.

I’ve uninstalled Avast! for the meanwhile but I may try that at a later date. I like Avast! but I have to be sure that it won’t brick my computer by automatically quarantining suspected malware without asking me about the decision.

I’v e used avast since 2003 and have never had any of my systems “bricked” because of something that could be traced back to Avast.
I’ve had a problem with Windows Updates that have bricked the systems.

That’s great bob, but Avast! had a monumental borkfest around 2009 as it affected plenty of people I knew personally and online who were running XP. False positives and Win updates are probably responsible for most of the bricking on Microsoft OS’s. Which is why I image regularly. I worry about AV’s in general and I want to do more research before reinstalling Avast! at the moment. That is if Windows Update doesn’t brick my box in the meantime.
