:o i went to update my avast free antivirus like i usually do with no problems at all, but this time , there is a problem, it said there was a program update to avast 2016 , and so i did so , but now it keeps tell ing to upgrade to avast 2016 (free version) . over and over again.

i have windows 10 HOME, 8 gigs of ram and a 400 GB hard drive . i have no other protection software installed, windows defender is DISABLED, .

do i need to un-install avast in safe mode using the avast un-install tool ? , and then re-install the new 2016 version that is now out ?. ::slight_smile:

It should happily install over the top

:o i updated it from the avast program that i’m using now, i even downloaded the offline installer from this forum.

and installed it on top of it like you say, it still says to install the new version, of the free avast antivirus , which by the way , looks awesome , it just keeps telling me there is a program update ,

Repair Avast:

  1. Control Panel → Add/Remove programs → Avast
  2. Click on ‘Repair’.
  3. Follow instructions.
  4. Reboot.

::slight_smile: ok, did that, the bug in the updating ,when i do a manual update , is still there.
and yes i rebooted my PC.

here is a small video recording i did of the bug, in the updating part of the Avast free antivirus program.

select the highest video quality setting and view it full screen.

:o

Aye I just noticed that on my system, but as I leave the updating to Avast it should be OK

ya true, but still , they should fix it ,
