Avast free antivirus install FAILED

I had avast free installed since many years. A few day ago (3) i notice the version of the program were very old. I try to update by the GUI of avast. But it failed. I look on the net and it said: try to uninstall, download the last installer version. I did so. And the [re]install failed. I try the offline installer, it work, but when i try to update the virus definition (event the program itself) (by the setting > update) it give an unknow error. :frowning: Very fast in about 1 sec (or less) at the “first” step (it said step 1/2 in the gui) I also intalled virus definition with the offline .exe (and it work) But doing this manually everyday :frowning:

I try many time to uninstall and install, everytime the online install failed. I even try with the uninstaller tool provide by avast (avast clear)
(and i try too, repair form Windons app management: uninstall wich luanch Avast setup and i chose repair), repair do nothing.

finally i come back, reinstall again, with the ofline intaller. But still can’t update the virus definition (and can’t log in too: give an error)

The version is the last one 17.5.2303 (build 17.5.3585.203)
On Windows 10 Home Version 1703

Also, i got another error when Windows pop a notification: virus definition is not up to date. I click on it, and it try to launch something (some process of avast i guess) and a i got a “violation of permission issue”. i provide a screenshot. (sorry in french)

(the traduction: Windows is unable to acces the peripheral, the access path, or the specific file. Maybe you don’t have the permission to acces that element.)

Perform a clean installation of the latest avast version.

i try that many time, like i said in the first post.

It failed.

Did you remove everything from avast manually ?
add/remove through control panel and running avastclear is not enough to remove everything.

Yep, the first time:in programFile i delete the avast folder, same for programData.

Did you also removed the registry entries ?

What is the error about the update(s) in the log file ?

after i uninstall, i run ccleaner. (i saved a reg backup)

and the file at C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Persistent Data\Avast\Logs\Update.log
seem to have the same errors of the install.log (provide in the original post)
but in doubt, i link this one too!

It looks like the download is failing, might be DNS or ISP related. Can you try changing your DNS to something like Google DNS and try again?

Yup, the “famous” DNS problem.
Change it to the one from Google and everything should work.
