Avast free antivirus uninstall

Hello, and my thanks in advance,
Computer with windows 7 running Zone Alarm firewall and antivirus.
I tried free Avast antivirus. I turned off Zone alarm except for the firewall. When I went online, I couldn’t access the internet. I uninstalled Avast using the Avast uninstaller. Still no web access. Some details:
I tried Firefox and Opera. With Opera I can access google search page and nothing else. With Firefox I get nothing. When I run the computer in safe mode with network, both browsers work fine.

I have a program called hexographer, both java and no java versions. When I am connected to the internet, but no browser open, this program won’t open. Task Manager shows it is running, but I have no access to it. When I disconnect from the modem, the program opens and works fine.
I have A/B 11 times, and it happens each time.

After I uninstalled, I found many small Avast files in C:\windows\winsxs\manifest that I manually deleted. No change.

Any suggestions on how to get access to the web?

Bruce G.

Avast free doesn’t contain a firewall. You can try using their removal tool.

ZoneAlarm Firewall and Antivirus program?

Uninstall both if you intend to use Avast Antivirus Free: https://support.avast.com/en-ww/article/11/#artTitle

Uninstall.

Reboot.

Built-in Windows 7 Firewall is good to use as is. Removing and uninstalling ZoneAlarm Firewall should restore Internet access.

Remove any/all other antivirus programs that were once installed or came with your system when new: Use link provided above.

Thank you for your responses.

I used the Avast uninstall tool in safemode.

I reinstalled drivers, and now have web access.

Problem solved.
