Avast Free Antivirus (v11.1.2245) won't finish installing

Hi!

I need help! I recently downloaded the present version of Avast Free Antivirus (v 11.1.2245) and installed it. After prompting me to restart my computer. Avast has not changed its status, its stuck half-way through finishing the installation.

I tried:

  1. Restarting my laptop a few times
  2. Changing the settings
  3. Tried uninstalling it (won’t let me access uninstallation; “access denied” even though I am the admin)
  4. Trying to run setup again (just became unresponsive - nothing happens)

Nothing works. I’m using Windows 8.1 by the way.

I can’t proceed w/ my work using Dev C++ since avast immediately marked it as a virus and stored it onto the vault. I tried restoring it but avast won’t respond.

Please help me ASAP!

This topic has been resolved. I just had to run smart scan and resolve the issues w/ the network.

Is/was there any other security (related) software on the system ?
If so, what and how did you remove it ?

Have you (or tried to) run the avast uninstall tool ?
