The latest avast! Free Antivirus v8.0.1483 detects a video CD program, Roxio VCD Player, as virus and has blocked it from running. As a result, I am not able to watch some of my favourite video CD’s from my home PC equipped with Windows 7 Service Pack 1 Premium (32-bit).
May I have any technical advice on how to exclude the said program from scanning by avast! Free Antivirus v8.0.1483? I recall that the previous versions of avast! Free Antivirus do not have such a problem. Is it possible to remedy the Roxio VCD Player as false positive?
If the file doesn’t have big size < 32 mb, scan the file on https://www.virustotal.com/en/ and see even there if the file is safe.
If the file is in quarantine: open avast interface>maintenance>virus chest and right click on the file and choose submit to virus lab and follow the steps.
You could submit the file via email to avast lab: virus@avast.com
If you want to add the file to exclusion: open avast interface>settings>global exclusions and add there the file you want to be excluded by avast.
