[b]I updated my Avast last night and today it did not scan like it usually does I had to manually scan I never had to do that with anyother updates did I do so,mething wrong?

Reboot.
Or try a repair…Control Panel>Uninstall a Program>double click “avast”>click “repair”>reboot.
Note: Sometimes more than one reboot is required.
