I don’t know if this has been mentioned before but ,some time ago, the Avast safezone browser icon suddenly appeared on my desktop.
I didn’t download the browser myself so I uninstalled it.
However,from the point the icon appeared Avast free antivirus changed!
When opened a circle, with a red cross inside, appears and also the statement, in red again, “you are unprotected”.
If I use “smart scan” I am told there are no viruses, on my PC, but the scan is over in a couple of seconds whereas before the process took around a couple of minutes.
Is there a problem here and, if so, how do I fix it?

Does this “problem” reduce, or even end, the effectiveness of Avast free antivirus?
Are you also saying this can’t be fixed?
