“Ask for action” doesn’t have a “do nothing” option and is therefore useless.
“Restore and add to global exclusions” does restore the file but does NOT add the file to exclusions.
Please, do change this behaviour as it’s seriously infuriating. I have a couple of rare programs that are certainly not infected and AVAST keeps flagging them as suspicious. I did tell it to submit the files in question, don’t know if it did seeing how adding to exclusions works =/
an exe named adxcat which creates .adc, specific for certain ps2 formats.
I don’t think providing a screenshot of an empty exclusion list would be helpful. You should be able to reproduce it by triggering a false positive → send to chest → go to chest → restore and add to exclusions → look at exclusion lists/try opening the file again and get the virus popup again.
So… any chance of this ever going to be fixed or changed?
For the “do nothing” action, it could be made available in some sort of “advanced” mode, which is disabled by default to protect users who don’t know what they are doing.
The add to exclusions from virus chest bug should definitely be fixed though.
edit: to clarify: it seems that adding to global exclusions DOES actually add files to it. The problem is, the Filesystem Shield does NOT respect the setting, as it seems to have an own exclusion list? That doesn’t make sense.
