Stupid question — and don’t even know if this started because of the recent upgrade — but my google maps are all now dead. I have the Google Earth Plugin and was previously getting standard maps and google earth, 3D street view etc., but now I just get a ‘loading’ error. I haven’t needed the maps since i upgraded Avast and no other software is different, so a link seems plausible because Google says to clear IE9’s cache (makes no difference) and check security settings. I haven’t changed anything in Avast AV settings or Commodo firewall and Defense+.
Is it likely the upgraded Avast has a setting I need to tweak? ??? Cheers.
I have no idea if Avast is related, but you might want to try 2 things.
1_ Rebuild the firewall rules / exclusions. For this, delete rules related to Avast, reboot and recreate them (avastsvc.exe, avastui.exe, avast.setup…)
2_ try Avast main GUI → Web shield → EXPERT settings → “…only well known browsers”. Save and reboot.
if # 2 doesn’t help, please return that setting as it was before.
Sometimes this happens, you can try updating Java or go to tools—Internet options—Advanced–Reset internet Explorer settings. You will be able to check what changes resets do.
Firefox is more stable for google maps.
Hi, thanks for the suggestions. Used them all. No improvement. Decided to turn off tracking protection in IE9. Maps all came back including google earth. ??? Pretty sure maps worked before with tracking protection on but what the heck. >:( Thanks again for kind help.
