I bought this laptop 6 weeks ago from a high street dealer and it had free Avast on it. Now Avast are saying that I have had the AV for nearly a year now. Which is totally wrong because I obviously was not the initial recipient from nearly a year ago. I have had the AV for only 6 weeks. So. where do we go from here?
is your computer time / day / month / year correct?..if not adjust and reboot
was there a preinstalled AV on your new comp?
did you remove it before installing avast?
Another question would be when did the dealer install avast! on the laptop? Perhaps he did it almost a year ago?? Just a thought . . . .
Have you tried re-registering it?
Thank you so much for your advice. I did register Free Avast in my name and they sent me a licence key. So, I can use it for another year. Looking at this forum I am so glad it was pre-installed before I got the laptop. I don’t know what I would have done if the install had gone wrong
