Avast Free Cannot re-register

Please help! My Avast is due to expire in a little over 1 hour.

Info:

Win xp

Free version 6

This is my 4th year.First 2 years no problem re-registering.

Last year,much trouble. Had to call the Help phone.

He took over my computer and did it remotely. However,he deposited much junk on the computer and it has never run the same.

Fast forward to this year. Got the pop-up that said I had 30days left. However,it took me to a screen that seemed as though I was registering as a brand new customer.
Now the only pop-up is a black and white ad for pay version. And nothing on the ad is even clickable!

Called the Help phone again last night.After a 1/2 hor wait,got a man who did not understand English. He also said after one year,I must buy a paid subscription!!!

The first 2 years,I was given a key or license #.Last year nothing.

I am a senior citizen and hardly computer savvy.Really hoping for some help.

PS I did open a ticket yesterday. Got a resopnse which simply told me to follow the instructions to register!!! The very same ones that do NOT show!

Try using the old off-line re-registration method, fill in form, get email, enter registration number.

Even if I do that,there is nowhere to enter a key once I get one

There should be is there no offline registration section, and insert key button, see image example.

Thanks so much for trying to help me.First found another screen by clicking on desktop icon…filled that out…ugh! It would not click through!

Next…just tried your link for the offline. Filled in info…it did go through…says I should get a key in 24 hours! However,if and when I get the key,I have no idea where to enter it!

I too am having difficulties re registering. I am trying via email and not getting a license sent.

No one is able to say why in my thread at:

What a mess!!! One place says my AVAST expires in 1 day…another now says it is expired…keep checking mail for a key…but nothing…and as I asked David,where can I even insert the key?

Now that it’s showing expired…ugh!

Click on Maintenance, than Registration for online registering.

  1. Open Avast.
  2. Click on “Maintenance” then “Registration”.
  3. Fill out the form for your license key and click “Submit”.

Inserting the license key into: avast! Free Antivirus, avast! Pro Antivirus and avast! Internet Security.

In your case, please, upload (attach) the avast log:
C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\log\Setup.log
or C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast5\Setup\setup.log

If the file is too big for the forum, post the last 400-500 lines of it.

The sending of the free email license works fine, i thought i would try it with all these complaints and it was only 10 min’s after applying for it that i then recieved it in my mail so i dont know what you’s are doing wrong.
