I have a computer which doesn’t connect to the internet.
Recently, the free 1 year-license expired. I tried to click register but in the end, avast said there was no internet connection so the registration process couldn’t complete. The main UI said the computer wasn’t protected due to the expired license
What should I do register in offline without having to grab a license and import it or plug the cable to get the internet to make it work?
I thought avast removed the option to register in Avast free
thank you
EDIT: avast version: 17.6.2310 (the latest version), windows 7
I updated my avast from the previous version when I was online
however, the latest version still requires registration until now
does it mean that I have to uninstall avast and reinstall using the link you send in order to permanently remove the registration option?
I installed using the offline installer 2 days ago. It still required registration
only the online installer removes the registration?
The reason, if you are using XP, even if you do install the full off-line installation file it requires a connection otherwise that instillation will fail. There is an element in avast, that won’t work with XP so the installation would try to download that element.
I’m using windows 7 x64
installed avast using the offline installer (old version) → updated to the latest version → the license expired → still usable for a few days → after 1 or 2 weeks, avast didn’t allow me to use the product anymore without registration → I registered
not sure what happened here.
the statements: “You no longer need to register” and “Newer versions of Avast Free Antivirus will no longer ask you to register, and older versions will keep working even after they’ve “expired”.” are totally wrong in my case
You should be OK (as far as I’m aware) on win7 with the off-line installation file. I don’t know if the old off-line installation file you used could be the cause of either of these conditions.
You may also be best to do a clean install using the avastclear.exe utility, see here for instructions and download link for the utility http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility.
