Avast Free constantly aborting my internet connection due to threat from Amazon?

Hello,

Over the past few days, Avast Free Antivirus has been constantly aborting my internet connection due to a threat from an Amazon.com server (35.163.180.163).
It says a threat has been blocked from URL:Mal. This is really annoying, because it happens every 10 or 20 minutes.
Is this a false positive? Does anyone know what I can do?

Thank you for your time.

As for the IP address, this is where I found it is from an Amazon.com network.

No toaster pop-ups in lower right-hand corner?

If, you see one again, please screencapture it when it shows [OR] begin a malware system check here and post again in the Virus and Worms section with a link back to this original post: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=194892.0

I suggest beginning a malware check asap over at the virus and worms section. Don’t waste time, get this fixed. Attach requested logs.

I performed two full system virus/malware scans with both Avast and Malwarebytes and it all came up clean.
I do not get toaster notifications for this issue. The internet connection is just shut off and Avast will give me the occasional in-app notification as seen in the image.

Follow the instruction already posted here:

Thank you, I had already reported the possible false positive.
However, this doesn’t solve my problem. My internet connection is being aborted even with all Avast Shields temporarily disabled…

You stated that you couldn’t reach a certain Amazon link. Now you’re saying that you can’t reach the internet ???

So I didn’t read the same thing from his beginning :-
what I read - me - at the beginning:
title:Avast Free constantly aborting my internet connection due to threat from Amazon?
and first post:

and #5
The internet connection is just shut off

Where did you read that he couldn’t reach (only) a certain amazon link

Well, if you’ve got avast real-time protection disabled and you still lose your internet connection once every 10-20 minutes, it would seem avast is not causing the issue, since it can’t interfere.

Turning off real-time protection is not something I would do, especially if I were seeing/experiencing what you’ve been seeing.

@ chris…

  • I read a threat coming from IP address 35.163.180.163 is being blocked by Avast Free every 10-20 minutes.
  • I’m not seeing I can’t reach or connect to 35.163.180.163 because avast is blocking me which would be the usual complaint in this case. Since Avast Free has no built-in firewall, hard to see how it is blocking internet access completely – see first point above about turning off protection.

I never once stated that I couldn’t reach a certain Amazon link. Please don’t put words in my mouth.

To reiterate,

I currently have internet connection. However, every once in a while my connection will be terminated on and only on this computer. Avast tells me (sometimes) that this is due to a threat coming from the posted amazon ip network. I agree, Avast may not be the issue since my connection is being dropped with shields off, but it all started with the Avast alert and my computer seems to not be infected, on account of Avast and Malwarebytes both coming up clean.
