Avast Free has no option to ignore or “add as safe” for specific files at the time of detection. The option “Do nothing” shades the Apply button and doesn’t allow me to apply. PLEASE SOLVE THIS, I decide what I want to preserve and what not in my computer. An option to ignore files based on MD5 sum would be great, so then doesn’t matter where they are located or if I copy or move them.

Does the option mentioned in this topic by essexboy help solve your problem http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=146069.msg1059963

It does not work, still shows the shaded button only with “Do nothing”. I want to add that file to White List no matter where it’s located in the future.

Have you tried adding the file in Settings/ Antivirus/ Exclusions

I can only add individual files to Deepscreen and Hardened mode, and even so doesn’t work.
AVG Antivirus Free has this option at this moment, for those who need it actually.
I also had issues yesterday while adding a file to the Exclusions. I’ve did it 4 times and the file keep get detected each time it was executed.

Isn’t that you had issues, is that it didn’t work at all.

To ignore a file, I simply click on the “X”, the window closes and avast! takes non action with said file.

And what happens the next time it’s scanned?

I’m new to the program so I’ll let you know.
(OT–are you sure you want readers to think you’re “maybe a bot?” /OT)

It’s a forum assigned name given when you reach a certain posting level.

It just shows the forum administrator has a sense of humour as it is a post count based comment. That to attain so many posts 20,000 and more that it ‘maybe a bot.’ See https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=93015.0 for the various groupings.
