Avast Free doesn't 'Talk' anymore

Hi!
I’ve been using Avast Free for a few years now but since a few months, Avast’s nice voice doesn’t sound anymore although it is activated (ticked). Not a big thing but it makes me kind of sad because I like that voice and it tells me that the update succeeded.
Is there something I can do without re-installing it all again?
Thank you for your answer and help.

Check the avastUI, Settings, Silent/Gaming Mode hasn’t been enabled.

Thank you for your response.
Sorry for the long delay. I was on vacation and I forgot to check the notifier. :-[
I checked and all sounds settings are on. I keep it on the default mode. The only thing that says Silent is for when I’m working Full Screen.
The popup image (green) does appear promptly with each update, as do the other alerts, but still no sound.

check the PC’s speakers, see the pitch click the icon in speakers taskbars near the windows clock

Slide the bar according to your taste. By doing this, Windows beeps to test the current volume.

@ NiceGargoyle
Check the avastUI, Settings Sounds, Voiceovers and ensure that the Use voiceover sounds (when available) is enabled.

If it is enabled - Try a repair of avast:
XP - Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and select Repair, click next and follow.

Vista, win7 - Control Panel, Programs & Features, uninstall a program, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and select Repair, click next and follow.

You may need to reboot after the repair.

Thanks DavidR!
That’s what I find curious. In Avast, it is already set to default: All sounds and events are ticked. I also tried repairing the usual way with the remove/modify program but with no change. And I didn’t have any PC problems lately. I have Windows 7 Premium Family on my laptop (Acer Aspire 5552G-7859, AMD Phenom II, X4 N970, 4GB DDR3 Ram, Graphics: AMD Radeon HD6470M, 640GB HDD). I also did a thorough scan, found no suspect files, oh yeah, and did restart my Laptop after repair, but to no avail.

There must be something I forgot… Sorry for the French language images but it is my native language.

Thank you jefferson but my volume is always open and up to 90.

Succes!

Thanks! This was exactly what I needed! Downloaded the official voices. ;D
Will it install automatically?

EDIT: yes it did!

I guess I rejoiced too rapidly. It didn’t work.
I did click on it to install and it confirmed the process but still, Avast is silent.

On the link you gracefully provided, I can hear every demo voices. Furthermore, and as funny as it seems, I hear every sound and effect while I’m playing a game. I even play and compose other music, and, even though the sound is not loud, I still can hear it.

Looks like the only sound I’m NOT hearing is Avast’s. The soundpack is even detected in the Parameter window (French version). (see image)

I really don’t understand. What is next to do, please?

PS: I also sent this topic to the French forum, you never know…

I uninstalled Avast, restarted, cleaned the registry, re-installed again from the site, registered the program again but the situation is still the same, I can’t get Avast to “talk”.

I then thought it could be my home studio (Mixcraft 6 Pro) that takes priority on the sounds but it was not. All my usual sounds (Windows, Nexus Dock, music player) play perfecty. Just in case, I deactivated (unticked) all sound priorities in my mixer so that everything is free to play at will. Same thing… No sound by Avast.
Now I’m stumped! :-[
Don’t know what to do next. :frowning:

I do hope someone finds the solution. Thank you.

i just got a replacement computer… its been a while… almost a year… so i down loaded avast
and went looking for how i go the voice i chose… sounded like larry the cabl guy
cant find where that was… though i saved a link in my email… then
i read here and everywhere no more voices… i installed the free version for 30 days

I am having the same issue with no sound. My computer’s sound is all the way up. no headphones in. I tried all the suggestions here and no success. Did you figure out a solution?
