I’ve had enough of Avast’s problems.
-
Increadably slow boots
-
Black screens at start-up and at reboots
-
Constant nag screens to complete the install.
It now seems that Avast has gone and become “bloated.” I will be surprised if Avast will stay on my dual-boot PC and second XP PC past this week-end.
Shame Avast!
You are missing a crucial piece of information the avast version you have currently, if 7.0.1451 then use the avastUI, Maintenance, Update - Program Update to get the latest version 7.0.1456.
If you are seeking help we are happy to try and help, but if you have just come to vent I don’t know if anything we say will help. The ball is in your court.
I’ve been constant with the updates but somehow the 1456 seem to “revert” back to the older 1451.
I’ve updated again and during the reboot, my PC “black screened” to a point that the tower “reset” button needed to be pushed. This never happened with th older Avasts.
This most likely stems from an early update to avast 7.0.1456 as not all of the update servers (hundreds of them) were fully loaded with 7.0.1456, essentially that was causing the notification of the latest version (in its server) being the latest update version.
I had this happen myself but when all servers were updated and the next Virus Definitions update, this no longer showed the older version being the one available for update.
What virus definition version do you have, 120706-0 is the latest ?
You might also try a repair of avast:
XP - Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and select Repair, click next and follow.
You may need to reboot after the repair.
This has in the past resolved this out of sync issue.
Did you use Windows system restore?
