Hi, when install avast free version, my hdd free space down 12 gb to 6 gb , why?
Sorry no idea, but avast! certainly doesn’t need 6 GB…!!!
Nowhere close to 6GB, you only have to check the avast folders (Program Files and ProgramData) to see that.
The main Program Files Avast Software folder is 239MB on my XP system, this fluctuates with the addition of new virus definition folders (defs), before avast does housekeeping to drop the old defs sub-folders.
May be windows create new restore points.
No. Not with 6 GB.
You can use a small programme to determine what is taking all the space
Lets have a quick look at the hard drive layout and see what sort of files are taking the space
Download and install windirstat
Run the programme
Select your main drive
When the pacmen have finished there will be a graphic display of your drive
Please attach that as a screenshot
