Avast Free Home Donload

I have a number of times tried to install the free Avast download setupeng.exe

I have reinstalled Windows XP Professional but still get the error:-

“Security Warning
Windows has found a problem with this file
Name: setupeng.exe
Publisher: Publisher Unknown
This file has been blocked because it does not have a valid digital signature that varifies its signature”

At this point the installation shuts down.

Can anyone please assist

Thank You

Hi,

Right click the file, then click Properties, toward the bottom right there should be a button that says “Unblock” if there is click it and your problem should be solved.

Hi justin1278

Thank you for your interest in this problem.

I have tried as you recommend and now on clicking the file goes straight into a close down with the comment “setupeng.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.”

Did you download it from the following website:
http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html
The easiest thing to do might be to just delete the file you have and
download a fresh copy.

my guess is you have IE configured to deny downloads without authenticated signatures and either you find where its configured and change it or take the other option ;D

If that’s the case then maybe this will help:

if you have it right there then this might further clarify. :stuck_out_tongue:

Hi People

Firstly sincere thanks for your intrest and support…

However the Avast download is still not working… still it is about the verification… I have again downloaded from the Avast site, checked the settings, installed the signature and still have the same result…

Any more support would be appreciated

Ronnie

try getting the download from file hippo http://www.filehippo.com/download_avast_antivirus/
if that fails, as I hinted before install firefox .

Sorry Cloussau,
But that referr’s to encrypted email.
It has nothing to do with downloading a file from a server.

I have again downloaded from the Avast site, checked the settings, installed the signature and still have the same result
What signature? There isn't any, just the program. ??? ???

Have you tried downloading with a download manager or with an alternative browser ?
I only ask this because the pop-up window is from IE - Security Warning.

Were you trying to install it direct from the avast link or were you saving it to disk prior to running it from windows explorer ?

If I’m not mistaken, all setup executables should contain Verisign digital signature. If they don’t, it usually means that the download is truncated.

I’d like to suggest to add the MD5 info in the webpage for all setup.exe files available to download.
