Avast Free just will not install!

Hello all,

Please, can anyone provide any help? I’ve tried to download Avast Free to my new PC thrice now and it has failed to install. I can’t understand why/what I’m doing wrong and can’t make sense of the error log (below). Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Hello all

Well… it’s difficult for me (and perhaps for a majority of people in France) because my internet connection is via a “Box” (in my case a FreeBox) and in that case the DNS is mandatory the one of the box in my LAN (which is 192.168.1.254).
My FreeBox (as many other Boxes) acts as a DNS server, and if I want to use another DNS server I receive a message from my provider telling that I must use its DNS.
Furthermore, my LAN is configured with fixed IPs (personal choice) and I can’t at all change the DNS server.

But there’s something that disturbs me: previous versions of Avast free antivirus offline installer (at least version 17.1, but probably versions 17.2 and 17.3) just installed fine without any error. I started encountering errors when trying to install version 17.4, and it goes on with versions 17.5, 17.6 and 17.7.
So the only way to install Avast Free antivirus offline is to use an “old” version (17.1, which I keep in safe place) and install it on my computer. It installs just fine, and after connecting my computer to internet (once I have an antivirus up and running) it updates like a charm to version 17.7.
Is there a way to ask Avast have a look at this problem?

I thought to something different…
It’s supposed to be an offline installer.
So why does it want to connect to internet for downloading something else?

One more time, the 17.1 version just installs fine without wanting to download anything else.
And if the 17.4, 17.5, 17.6 and 17.7 versions want to download something for installation purpose, don’t call them offline installers !
