AVAST! Free latest updates, freezes the USB drive stick.

Hello All.
First of all,I’m so sorry for my English.

I’ve got a problem with the latest updates of Avast today.

  • Avast! Free 7.0.1456
  • Engines & Definition : 120804-1
  • Windows 7 x64 Home Premium, 4GB Ram.

When I plugged in the USB Flash Drive, the windows explorer got hung until I un-plugged the USB drive. I tough my USB Flash drive is broken, but this occured to other USB drive too. So I tested on other windows with the same Avast installed, the same problem occured.

After several minutes of investigate the problem, I’ve found that If I turn the Avast Realtime Shields Off, the USB drive immediate works flawlessly.

I think somethings in latest update of avast makes this problem.

Or, If I’m wrong, please lead me way.

Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem.

Avast 8.0.1489

I updated to version 8.0.1489. I steel have problem with USB memory stick.

If I boot windows in safe mode, USB memory stick works fine.
After I run Avast - USB memory stick does not run, the second USB memory stick to boot a long time - 30-40 seconds.

Exactly what is on the stick that Avast is scanning? You can put a “no autorun” on your USB stick which all of them should have anyways. It immunizes your USB stick. I have 4 USB stick and a USB 1TB external drive with Avast 1489 and I have experienced no issues what so every. Seems to me like Avast is scanning your USB stick after inserting it.

I also have same trouble.

2 will not run and 1 will after around 40 seconds.
I get this warning in event viewer
Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for a transaction response from the avast! Antivirus service.

Using Avast version 8.0.1489.
This has only started doing this in the last 3 days.

EDIT: just tried again and now all 3 usbs are working okay.
No warning in Event viewer.
Strange :-[
