Avast Free Latest Version and Activision Games run through Steam

:frowning: I have continually used avast free and recommended Avast products to all my clients in my IT support business, this is the first time Avast has caused me any issues. My problem relates to Avasts interaction with a number of Activision Games run through my Steam Account; Specifically Call of Duty Infinite Warfare will fail to load all textures and the game will crash if started with Avast file shield enabled. If i disable the file shield all textures will load and game runs fine. I can then re-enable the shield and game will run normally. This started after last update that included game mode. It does not matter if game mode is enabled or disable game still fails to load all textures with file shield enabled.

I have tried innumerable configurations, uninstalled and reinstalled the games (very heay on the downloads) and the results are all the same Game enabled or not if the File shield is enabled the games load with out all the correct textures and after a few minutes the game crashes altogther. Disable the file shield an surprise the the games run correctly. I believe that there are a number of issues as this problem started after the latest update Version 17.2.2288(Build 17.2.3419.61) release date 27/02/2017 with Definitions 170317-4 along with the latest update patch for Call of duty Infinite Warfare, the other games were unchanged.

Please advise a resolution as I dislike being online with my shields down.

Hi, disable the behavior shield or set an exclusion.
Avast GUI → Settings → Components → Behavior Shield

It would be better to create an exclusion rather than disabling the Behaviour Shield since you would lose protection.

I filed a bug for this same issue and received 2 generic replies that had nothing at all to do with my problem

They need to fix the problem …creating an exception allows the game to connect online with no protection.I don’t consider that a fix at all.

It’s been reported to Avast. Wait for their reply.

Thanks for the responses, I will wait and see what Avast does, but I agree about the exclusion, even though it is better than disabling the shield I would prefer that avast recognise the application for what it is an online multiplayer game, and I would much rather it be secure behind my antivirus

Cheers in advance of a resolution

You’re welcome.

32% into a $90 game I cannot play anymore, hours and hours of troubleshooting uninstalling re-downloading 87Gig Game is not something anyone would want to do, let alone restart from the beginning, rolling back drivers, verifying games files…

Plz sort this out as a paying customer for the another two years… wonder if I should look else where for internet protection while gaming?

I’ve being with avast for ages, but this is not good!! wasted time trying to pin point the problem

Either it’s the game with an open back door that avast has now close which causing the problem?

Or it’s avast program update which has caused it to block the loading of the game???

Is it a REFUND of the remaining years protection avast pro?
