Avast free lock wifi connection

hi,
I’m restoring old Latop, HP G62b117EL. AMD II P340 2,2GHz
O.S. Is W7 Home Premium 64bit + Sp1

I have installed Avast free (as before restoring), last version (20.5.2415, build 20.5.5410.561), download from wifi, and installation works correctly.

After install, reboot and then wifi doesn’t work anymore!!
In order to make wifi working again I have to remove Avast.

Anyone has suggestions?

  • Which AV(s) did you use before Avast…?

not other sw installed for security.
Standard w7 installation + CCleaner + Teamviewer
Nothing else.
Norton in bundle but not activated

I don’t remember previous version of Avast, but was updated in the past two months (core + virus definition

First, be sure to get rid of all remnants of any prior installed AV(s)…!!
→ https://support.avast.com/article/11/

Then:

  1. Download Avast Free Antivirus: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup_offline.exe
  2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.

hi, I’m back with no good news.

I follow the suggested steps, and …

  1. Clean other antivirus installation following instructions, norton and Avast and disabled windows update. OK
  2. Install Avast (offline exe). OK
  3. First Scan OK (without suggested update of FlashPlayer)
  4. wifi working, ethernet working. OK
  5. reboot
  6. wifi not working !! :-[ It seems LAN/Wifi card not connetted
  7. reinstall card driver (Realtek RTL8191SE)
  8. wifi WORKING !!! :smiley:
  9. reboot
    10 wifi not working !! :-[ It seems LAN/Wifi card not connetted

  12. Run Wifi Inspector (Avast) and find vulnerability (WannaCry/DoublePulsar). Avast suggest Instal security Update (KB4012212)
  13. Security Update (KB4012212) done, Wifi working
  14. reboot
  15. wifi not working !! :-[ It seems LAN/Wifi card not connetted
  16. reinstall card driver (Realtek RTL8191SE)
  17. wifi WORKING !!! :smiley:
  18. Run again Wifi Inspector (Avast) and find NO vulnerability -->OK
  19. reboot
  20. wifi not working !! :-[ It seems LAN/Wifi card not connetted
  21. reinstall card driver (Realtek RTL8191SE)

It seems that Avast Lock the LAN/wifi CARD at each reboot. If I reinstall driver wifi works… till next reboot … :cry:
