Avast Free Privacy Issues

Hi there, does Avast collect data from members and sell these?
Which data, since when, which companies are involved.

Rumor: AVG seems to be involved in collecting data and sell.
Not sure about this though!

Check the avastUI > Settings > General - scroll down to and expand the ‘Privacy section’ this gives options to disable and a brief explanation of it.

If you are concerned about this you really should read the EULA also.

I personally hate to read text which does not not make clear things straight away to members.

I’m not sure anyone here could say for sure. There is always data collected, especially with security software use.
What is collected I doubt can ever be truly known.
One hopes, believes that Avast is reputable and honest enough to not be misleading or misusing data obtained.

So you hate reading text, but it is OK for me to read that text to try and give you an answer.

As an avast user just like yourself, I have to get my information from the same sources as you. And my brief two line answer I would have thought clear enough for you to decide.

Yes data is collected - As to exactly what is collected and how it is used is outside of my knowledge. Am I worried about what anonymised information that is collected, the answer is no.

For a lot more years than people realize, information has been collected by all sorts of places,
NSA, ISP,Search Engines of all kinds, Facebook, Yahoo, Microsoft, etc, etc, etc,
Now because someone has posted an article about a change in AVG’s privacy statement that deals
with how unanimous data will be used and or sold, people seem to be all worried about their privacy.
If you’ve used the internet for any amount of time, you no longer have any privacy because all of your
information has already been collected, shared, sold or given away.
You may be able to make it harder for any one to collect your information but ultimately, it will always be available if
someone want’s that information and has a legal right to obtain it.
If you have something you truly think is private, then don’t share it. Especially, not on the internet.
