Many of my customers lately have been letting me know that Avast has not been sending out the registration/re-registration numbers when they fill out the form at the support site. They’ll fill out the form, submit the info, Avast tells them the registration was successful, yet 24 hours later there still won’t be anything from Avast at their email addresses. So I suggest they go back and have Avast re-send the number, yet when they do they’re notified by email that Avast has no record of their email addresses or that they have even registered at all. This has been happening quite a bit lately and frankly it’s embarrassing both for me and it SHOULD be embarrassing for Avast. If this issue is not resolved, I can’t in good conscience recommend an antivirus application that my customers can’t register/re-register. -kd5-
When you say registration, do you mean avast 5 FREE ?
If so it is not necessary to use a license key, you can but you don`t have to
Fill out the form, Name and a valid E-mail address click register and done
On-line registration is very simple and it’s the preferred method for all users of avast Free Antivirus 5.0 installed on a computer with standard Internet connectivity. To perform on-line registration follow these steps: http://support.avast.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=459
Topic title says it all.
I’m not talking about a license for the paid version of Avast, I’m talking about the registration number that is required by Avast Free in order to continue using the application beyond 30 days. I know how to fill out the form and submit the information, I know how to retrieve that registration number from the valid email address and enter it into the application, and I make sure my customers do as well. But if you’ll re-read my original post, that registration number is not being sent to the valid email addresses, in most cases the information is not even being logged at Avast as having been sent, evidenced by the email notification that Avast has no record of their email addresses or that they even registered at all. -kd5-
Topic title says it all.very sorry for not seeing that..... :'(
I know how to retrieve that registration number from the valid email address and enter it into the applicationAnd if you read the guide posted above, you see that you don`t need any key if you do the " Online Reg " you won`t get any mail from avast, no regnumber is sendt
Then why bother having the web-based registration if it doesn’t even work? -kd5-
kd5, you just have to click on register now in the main interface, then click register free version, then fill out the detail’s on the form and then send or accept, it’s done (no email key’s).
Then why bother having the web-based registration if it doesn't even work?Did they check if something is in the spam folder ? and depending on what type of account`s they have, some must log inn using web mail to find the spam folder....
In addition to the above posts, your clients can go to this site to register their FREE Avast software: http://www.avast.com/registration-free-antivirus.php online.
I am having difficulty as well. I just downloaded the Free Avast! 5.0 a few hours ago, but when I tried to register I was continually getting only the small screen that showed the difference between the free and the paid versions. I kept clicking ‘register’ but this only served to toggle between the two screens. It does not tell me that I have 30 days, it says I must register in 0 days. I did the on-line form, received my key, tried to insert it, but it is “not a valid key”. Nor does my information get ‘retrieved’. Do I re-register? Again, I cannot register ‘on-line’, as it will not allow me to, so I had to apply for the key. I do not seem to have the 30 day trial period either. ???
@ Amigo44,
Welcome to the forum.
Did you try clicking on this link: http://www.avast.com/registration-free-antivirus.php ? You do NOT insert a key…just follow the instructions listed on the page. This is for the FREE version only, but you must do it online.
Thanks for the welcome. It is a moot point right now, as my pc crashed last night after posting this. Won’t even start in safe mode. I’m using a visiting kid’s laptop to check my e-mails and thought I’d respond anyway. THIS laptop is running avast quite nicely, and I have no idea what happened. Yes, I tried everything, and it wouldn’t let me remove it from the control panel> add/remove programs either. I thought I would try to reinstall, but it was a dismal failure.
Amigo44, Did you try uninstalling it using the Avast Uninstall Utility in Safe Mode (aswClear5.exe) http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility - save it to your HDD? It has uninstall tools for both 4.0, 5.0 and AIS. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help you.
And welcome to the forum.
my renew just fine with the newest version i like how they change the renewing to work with the program inside instead of going to the website
