Avast Free - Renewal Issue again!

Hi,

I wonder if someone can please help. I have an issue with renewing my Avast Free subscription.

I have read several posts on this forum but so far I have had no luck.

I had a similar problem last year when trying to renew the license and found a post on this forum
which stated that 10 days after the expiration date the license would renew.

The above worked last year.

This year, 12 days past the expiration date (10-May-23), I still cannot renew the license.

Below are screenshots of what I am doing but I seem to be stuck in a loop.

I have rebooted my pc after the screen which says ‘Thank you for activating Avast Free’
but this did not help.

I also disabled my Comodo firewall prior to attempting to renew the subscription but again
no joy.

I am running Win7 SP1 with Avast Free version 18.2.2328

I read a post which might suggest that the Avast server to renew may be offline but
not sure.

Can anyone provide any helpful insight

The 4 images below are as follows

  1. Right click Avast icon in systray and select ‘Registration Information’
  2. This open the ‘Subscription’ page. I select ‘renew now’
  3. This opens the ‘Select your security level page’. I click on the AVast Free Antivirus button on the bottom left
  4. This opens a new page which says ‘Thank you for activating Avast Free Antivirus’

I then close that page by clicking the X on the top right had corner which takes me back to the ‘Subscription’ page showing exactly the same thing as per screenshot 2.

Version 18 is very old. Maybe that is why?

For version 18 only a clean install using avast clear will do the trick.

Please use off line installer and set avast to manual update.

PS: Disconnect your internet since w7 still receives avast updates.

Thanks. That is what I did yesterday and this has resolved the problem with the subscription.

avast clear did seem to leave quite some debris in the registry and other locations
