It may not be that file as effectively that is the file that has just been scanned rather than the one being scanned.
If you are able to click the Detailed Report button (possibly not) that may tell you what files couldn’t be scanned and crucially why.
EDIT: Files that can’t be scanned are just that, not an indication that they are infected or suspect, just that they can’t be scanned. But there are many legit reasons why a file can’t be scanned, for that we need information on the file name, location and reason why they couldn’t be scanned.
You are using a old version of avast. 2014.9.0.2007 is the latest one.
I suggest you use avastclear to remove the current installation and install the newest version
Some file can take a long time to scan.
A pdf that is 25Mb, is not really something you see daily.
Are you sure this is a legitimate file?
The second picture says nothing since it is not a log showing what files could not be scanned.
e.g. if you have a password protected compressed file, avast doesn’t know the password and therefor it can not scan the file.
It seems that the new version takes about 2x as long to scan as the 2013 version and that may have confused me.
Eddy: 2) - it is a legitimate file. I subscribe to some technical magazines and most issues about 20 meg, on occasion I’ve seen issues about 60 meg.
3) I was attempting to show an inconsistency between screens.
