Avast free scans computer every time it boots and slows everything down

Hi there, topic title should explain it. It does this so it can get me to upgrade to the paid version by telling me what performance issues my computer has after a lengthy scan. fair enough as you would expect a free version to want you to upgrade but it takes about 10+ minutes to stop choking my system as disk usage goes to 100%. i don’t know why it can’t just do this once and remember the results in the future, it wouldn’t really make any difference.

Repair Avast:
Control Panel> Program and Features (Add/remove program)>Select Avast> Select Repair. Reboot when completed
